What brought you to KU: KU Student Housing offers me new professional challenges and opportunities to make a positive impact on my residential community. To me, the professional responsibilities of the job work in tandem with my personal interests, and central to these, is a commitment to inclusion and diversity concerning all identities and backgrounds.

What are opportunities for someone joining the department: One of the biggest opportunities for someone joining the department is gaining experience with and helping to implement an evolving residential curriculum along with opportunities to work on a variety of committees within the department and Student Affairs Division.

What are important qualities needed to be successful here: To me, the most important quality needed for success in the department is a willingness to learn and make mistakes. This job entails many responsibilities but also a robust support system, with colleagues who are genuinely concerned for your well-being. I would advise putting your trust in those around you, and as the saying goes, "You may scrape your knees but you will never fall on your face."
