What brought you to KU: What brought me to KU were the opportunities that were guaranteed to me that I would experience serving in the Complex Director (CD) role. Having the opportunity to supervise two graduate students and a fulltime staff member was a critical piece of supervision that I wanted to gain within my next supervisory role. Serving within the CD role has offered me this experience. As well as, having the opportunity to lead a departmental committee as a chair representative.
What is your most exciting experience working with KU Student Housing: The most exciting aspect of working with KU Student Housing has been working for a department that is well connected with the university and Lawrence community. Serving as one of the chair representatives for the Staff Education departmental committee has allowed for me to immerse myself within the KU community while working with campus partners building connections to better serve students.
What are opportunities for someone joining the department: Working at KU and specifically with KU Student Housing you are given autonomy within individual roles to create initiatives, programs or partnerships. It is up to you individually to create a plan and see it through. KU Student Housing does a great job with supporting initiatives/programs that reflect serving students through a students first lenses.
