How to Join the Room Selection Waitlist
Approximately 4,000 students have already selected rooms in KU Student Housing. Most communities have extremely limited or no vacancies remaining. However, you may join a waitlist for the type of room you prefer.
- Navigate to the myKU portal login page.
- Log in with your KU online ID and password.
- Select "Services."
- Log in to housing.
- Select "Room Selection Waitlist"
Rates
Please be aware when indicating your room/apartment preferences that rates vary depending on building and room type.
Timeline
KU Student Housing will continue to assess waitlist requests until 5 p.m. July 15, 2022 when a room movement freeze will begin. On August 22, 2022, residents will be able to submit a move request for the fall semester and moves will resume on September 6, 2022.
You will not be contacted before being moved or assigned. If you want to change your waitlist preferences or be removed from the waitlist, email housing@ku.edu.
Tips for Students on the Waitlist
Be flexible. There are limited numbers of apartments, private bedrooms, suites, and rooms with in-room bath. The more flexible you are when ranking room preferences, the greater your chance of being able to change rooms.
Be patient. We cannot predict when or what type of spaces may become available or how many students we will be able to accommodate. If a space matching one of your preferences becomes available, you will be assigned to the space and a confirmation email will be sent to your KU email address.
Roommate Groups
Roommate requests from residents will not take priority when assignments are being made from the waitlist. Intimidating, bullying or asking a student to leave the space will not be tolerated and could result in the following:
- Assignment to a different room or building
- Cancellation of housing contract
- Actions could be documented and referred for the student conduct process
We anticipate availability in 2 person rooms in GSP for roommate requests.
Residents are able to indicate their preference to move rooms with or without their current roommate(s).
