About Stephenson
Home to about 50 residents, Stephenson is a men's scholarship hall. Stephenson residents pride themselves on their unique contributions to the KU "schol hall" social scene. Their back yard is a great place play basketball – any time, all year long. They also host an annual superhero party. Stephenson Hall opened in 1952 and is one of the eight scholarship halls listed on the National Register in the University of Kansas East Historic District.
The 50 residents of Stephenson claim a 51st resident - the infamous (fictional) "Wilbur W. Nether," who is featured prominently in the living room in a portrait above the living room fireplace. The hall has an academic resource center with computers and study aids. Wireless internet and laundry are provided.
Stephenson features traditional two-person rooms and a community bathroom. The beds are lofted and have extra long twin mattresses (36" x 80"). Rooms also are furnished with window blinds, a built-in dresser, closet, and a desk with desk chair for each resident.
