Mahith Samarathunga

"I became an RA because I wanted to give back to the community that once made me feel welcome. The best parts are the simple moments, like helping a resident learn something new, spending time together, or seeing someone settle in and feel at home. Watching residents grow more confident and independent has been the most rewarding part of this job."

"Being a Proctor for the scholarship halls is like nothing I've been a part of before, in the best way possible. It allows me to pay forward the kindness and inclusion I experienced my freshman year! The most rewarding part about being an RA in this community is the connections formed through living in a space that thrives on collaboration and togetherness. It truly is a home away from home!"

Ariella Rosenwald RA

"I applied to be an RA because my own RA helped me feel welcome at KU, get involved on campus, and build a sense of community, and I wanted to provide the same experience for other students. My favorite part of the role is connecting with residents and fellow RAs, building relationships, and working together to create a welcoming community where everyone feels they belong."
