Returning Students

Overview

Room selection for Returning Residents will be a lottery this year. The time you contract in your myKU portal will not affect your room selection as long as you contract between December 6, 2023 and noon on January 26, 2024. After January 26 at noon the contract will no longer be available. When you contract, we will collect your price point and room preferences.

Returning Residents will select their space before the incoming class. There will not be an option for residents to automatically retain their current space as part of general room selection. As part of the room selection process, you will be asked to choose your specific bedroom and bed space.

Here are some key dates to keep in mind as you go through the process:

December 4	Current residents will be notified when the contract is available.
December 6	Returning Residents can begin signing Housing contracts until noon on January 26, 2024.
January 26	Returner contract closes at noon.
February	February 14 Room Selection Lottery Group Numbers and selection times will be announced beginning on this date. February 21 Create a PIN in your Housing portal by this date if you plan to pull-in roommates. February 22 Returner Room Selection begins.
March	March 8 Returner Room Selection ends.
Optional Items	Sign Up for a Special Interest Community If you wish to live in a Special Interest Community (Honors, ROTC, Rainbow Community, GIA), submit your Special Interest Community Preference Application when you contract. The Rainbow Community will be in Templin Hall during the 2024-2025 academic year. Roommate Pull-in During room selection, Returning Residents will be able to pull-in up to 3 roommates who currently live on-campus. To pull-in a roommate: All residents must have a completed Housing contract for the 2024-2025 academic year. Create a PIN by February 21, 2024, in your housing portal. The person with the lowest Group Number should complete the room selection for the group. Prior to room selection, each roommate will need to provide their preferred name, choice of bed space, and sign up for a dining plan (dining plans are optional for Apartment Life Residents). Submit Medical Accommodations Request If you require medical accommodations, complete your accommodation request with the Student Access Center by noon on January 26, 2024 to ensure the best chance of accommodating your recommendation for a housing accommodation. Any recommendations received after January 26 will be considered but will be accommodated as space is available.

Your application is submitted through the myKU portal, not the Housing & Residence Life website. If you have not established your KU online ID, first visit the MyIdentity Account Setup page.

Log in with your KU online ID and password.
Select "Services."
Log in to housing.
