Returning Students

Overview

Room selection for Returning Residents will be a lottery. The time you contract in your myKU portal will not affect your room selection as long as you contract while the application for returning residents is open. After the application window closes, the contract will no longer be available.

Returning Residents will select their space before the incoming class. There will not be an option for residents to automatically retain their current space as part of general room selection. As part of the room selection process, you will be asked to choose your specific bedroom and bed space in our apartment living communities.

Here are some key dates to keep in mind as you go through the process:

Important dates for incoming returning students
December 2024	Application Opens Current residents will be notified when the application window opens and contracting can begin. Returning residents will be able to contract through late January.
Late January 2025	Application Window will Close The contract will no longer be available. There will be a specific date and time communicated to students.
February 2025	Room Selection will Begin Room Selection Lottery Group Numbers and selection times will be announced, and room selection will begin.
March 2025	Room Selection will End Room Selection will come to an end. Standby Lists and Waitlists will be available.
Optional Items	Submit Medical Accommodations Request If you require medical accommodations, complete your accommodation request with the Student Access Center by noon on January 26, 2024 to ensure the best chance of accommodating your recommendation for a housing accommodation. Any recommendations received after January 26 will be considered but will be accommodated as space is available.

Your application is submitted through the myKU portal, not the Housing & Residence Life website. Admitted students must establish their KU online ID to access the portal. MyIdentity Account Setup.

Visit the myKU login page.
Log in with your KU online ID and password.
Select "Services."
Log in to housing.
