Important note: this webpage contains details from Move-In 2025

Arrival

  • Find your move-in time in the arrival schedules.
  • At your arrival time, start at 19th Street and Ousdahl.
    • NOTE: Due to the intersection layout at 19th Street and Ousdahl, you cannot enter the intersection from the south.
    • TIP: Enter “1836 Ousdahl” into your navigation to lead you near the starting location.
  • Staff will guide you to the unloading zone on the west side of Downs Hall.

Long-Term Parking

  • When finished unloading vehicles, the driver will be directed to park in Lot 90, then walk back to Downs Hall.
    • Travel east on 18th Street, cross Naismith Drive, and turn left to park in Lot 90.
  • Persons with limited mobility should stay at the hall and not travel to long-term parking lots.

Important Details

  • It is not possible to unload trailers, RVs, or U-Hauls on move-in day.
  • All furniture provided by KU Housing & Residence Life must remain in the room.
  • Do not bring tools that can cause damage to the space to hang items/decorate the room.
    • Review our What To Bring webpage for approved decoration materials.
  • Keep hallways clear of items and place all trash in designated trash rooms.
    • Dumpsters will be available during move-in to assist with large boxes/items that need to be thrown away.
  • Communities will hold their first floor meeting and dinner. Time TBD

Move-In Packets 2026

  • Updated Move-In Packets for 2026 coming soon. These packets contain arrival, parking, and unloading information. You will also find directions to the hall and a boarding pass for parking.

Arrival Schedules for Downs Hall Coming Soon

Arrival schedules will be announced in the summer.

Housing & Residence Life employees will be staffing the elevators to ensure that they go to the proper floor that corresponds to the arrival times below.

Students who cannot make their arrival window will need to sign up for an alternative time through their myKU portal. You may be delayed if you arrive outside your arrival time.
