Important note: this webpage includes details from Move-In 2025


Arrival

  • Arrival schedules for Move-In 2026 are coming soon.
  • If you cannot make your arrival time, arrive after 4 pm. However, there will be no volunteers to help move in at that time.
  • At your arrival time, start at 14th and Massachusetts Streets. Proceed west along 14th Street towards the scholarship halls.
  • Turn off of 14th Street onto the street or alley that leads to your hall, as shown in the map to the right.
  • Park on the street in front of your hall.
  • As soon as you are done unloading, please park away from the building. If you have a car that does not need to be unloaded, please do not park it in front of the building.
  • Trailers, U-hauls, and box trucks are prohibited during move-in.​​​

Unloading

  • The student takes their KU ID card to the check-in station that corresponds to their hall. There are two check-in stations:
    • Residents in halls north of 14th Street check in at the Crawford Community Center. (Douthart, Grace Pearson, Margaret Amini, K.K. Amini, Rieger, and Krehbiel)
    • Residents in halls south of 14th Street go to the check-in station located between Pearson and Stephenson Halls. (Pearson, Stephenson, Battenfeld, Sellards)
    • Miller and Watkins residents will check in on Lilac Lane, just in front of those buildings.
  • After receiving their room key at the check-in station, Students return to help move items to the room.
  • Guests of the student stay with the vehicle and unload. Staff will help direct unloading.

Long-Term Parking

  • Plan to move vehicles to nearby parking promptly when unloading is complete.
  • Limited parking is available along Louisiana and Ohio Streets north of 13th Street.
  • Please do not remain parked between 13th and 14th streets so that other vehicles can unload.
    • Vehicles can park in the Kansas Union parking garage for free.
    • Lot 100 behind Stephenson Hall is accessible from Ohio Street.
    • Do NOT park in the lots near Miller and Watkins Halls. These lots are restricted and will be ticketed.

Important Details

  • It is not possible to unload trailers, RVs, or U-Hauls on move-in day.
  • All furniture provided by KU Housing & Residence Life must remain in the room.
  • Do not bring tools that can cause damage to the space to hang items/decorate the room.
    • Review our What To Bring webpage for approved decoration materials.
  • Keep hallways clear of items and place all trash in designated trash rooms.
    • Dumpsters will be available during move-in to assist with large boxes/items that need to be thrown away.

Move-In Packets 2026

  • Updated Move-In Packets for 2026 coming soon. These packets contain arrival, parking, and unloading information. You will also find directions to the hall and a boarding pass for parking.
