Road construction will occur during move-in. Please plan ahead and follow the posted detours. A link to city construction updates will be provided when available.

Before You Arrive

  • Check your assigned move-in time when schedules are available
  • Review your move-in packet and arrival route
  • Trailers, U-Hauls, box trucks, and RVs are prohibited during move-in. 
  • Review the What to Bring page
  • Plan to move your vehicle from the building immediately after unloading
  • Bring your KU ID card.
    • You must submit your information for your first KU Card.
    • If you have already submitted your information, check your KU email for pickup details provided by the Card Center or review where to pick up your KU ID.

Arrival Directions

  1. At your arrival time, start at 14th and Massachusetts Streets. 
  2. Proceed west along 14th Street toward the Scholarship Halls.
  3. Follow staff directions to your hall's unloading zone. 

Important: If your vehicle does not need to be unloaded, do not park in front of the building. These spaces are needed for students and families who are actively unloading. 

Check-In Locations

  • Halls north of 14th Street: Crawford Community Center
    • Includes Douthart, Grace Pearson, Margaret Amini, K.K. Amini, Rieger, and Krehbiel.
  • Halls south of 14th Street: Between Pearson and Stephenson Halls
    • Includes Pearson, Stephenson, Battenfeld, and Sellards.
  • Miller and Watkins Halls: Check in on Lilac Lane, in front of Miller and Watkins Halls.

After receiving their room key, students should return to help move items to their room. Plan to move vehicles to nearby parking promptly when unloading is complete.

Long-Term Parking

Plan to move vehicles to nearby parking promptly when unloading is complete. 

Parking options may include: 

  • Limited parking along Ohio Street north of 13th Street.
  • Kansas Union parking garage, available for free during move-in.
  • Lot 120 and Lot 124 off of Louisiana Street  
  • Lot 100 behind Stephenson Hall, accessible from Ohio Street.

Parking restrictions: 

  • Do not remain parked between 13th and 14th streets after unloading.
  • Do not park in the lots near Miller and Watkins Halls. These lots are restricted and will be ticketed.

Important Reminders

  • All furniture provided by KU Housing & Residence Life must remain in the room.
  • Do not bring tools or materials that could damage walls, furniture, or room surfaces.
  • Keep hallways clear of items and place all trash in designated trash rooms.
    • Dumpsters will be available during move-in to assist with large boxes/items that need to be thrown away.

  Long-term parking: Lot 120, Lot 124, Kansas Union Parking Garage, or Lot 100 as directed

  GPS Arrival Location:  Crawford Community Center 

  Late arrival: If you cannot make your arrival time, arrive after 4 p.m. Volunteer move-in help will not be available after 4 p.m.
