Housing Office Closed
The Housing office will be closed beginning Dec. 24, 2021 and will reopen Jan. 3, 2022.
The following information answers many frequently asked questions regarding winter break.
Account Charges
Spring semester housing and dining charges will be placed on your Enroll & Pay account in mid-January. Information about bill pay is available in the Contract FAQs.
Residents On-Campus During Winter Break
Apartments remain open during the break. If you need assistance contact the front desk. You can find the front desk schedules and phone numbers in our Winter Break Desk Hours new article.
Residents Away From Campus
- If you must retrieve necessary medical items from your room, call 785-864-3285 to schedule a meeting with a staff member.
- If you had a vacancy in your room and did not prepare it for a roommate, sign up for a time to return via the Return to Move Sign-Up form.
Contract Cancellation
To cancel your fall 2021 – spring 2022 contract:
- For instructions to submit a contract cancellation request, see the cancellations section of the Student Housing contract.
- After submitting your contract cancellation request you must schedule a move out time between Jan. 3–5.
- Residents who moved out and kept the room key must return it in person to the Student Housing office before Jan. 5, 2022. Do not mail the key or you will incur a $50 lock change charge.
Spring-Only 2022 New Residents
- Learn how to sign a spring 2022 Student Housing contract.
- Learn how to get your first KU Card on the KU Card Center website.
- If you sign a contract while the Student Housing office is closed, you’ll receive your room assignment after Jan. 3, 2022.
- If you must arrive on campus before Jan. 13, 2022, submit an early arrival request by signing in to your myKU portal and select “Login to Housing”.
Mail Service During Winter Break
- During winter break, the mail room for all on-campus residents will be located in Stouffer Place. The mail room will be open noon – 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday (closed Dec. 24–25 and Dec. 31–Jan. 1). Any resident may pick up packages at the Stouffer Place mail room during winter break.
- Mail service to each hall resumes Jan. 13, 2022. Your items cannot be forwarded, as many shipping companies refuse this service because of COVID-19.
