Room Selection Updates: 6/21/2024 10:00 a.m. CST 

Currently, 4,491 residents have selected their housing through room selection. Every student with a room selection group number is guaranteed housing and will be able to select housing during their room selection time. Room selection groups 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 can start room selection Friday, June 21, 2024, at their scheduled time. There is space for every student with a room selection group number to choose a bed space. Room selection ends for all students on June 24, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. CST.  You must select a space before that time, or your housing contract will be cancelled, and you will no longer be guaranteed housing for the 2024-2025 academic year. 

Roommate Conduct:

During room selection, residents can pull in one (1) roommate. Any remaining space in the room is available for other residents to select during their room selection time. Residents cannot hold or reserve space for other residents who are selecting housing in a later room selection group. Residents cannot request, intimidate, harass, or bully another resident to move or swap out of a selected room to accommodate another resident. Residents who engage in these behaviors are in violation of their Housing & Residence Life contract and will be held accountable through the student conduct process possibly resulting in a cancellation of their housing contract making them ineligible to live on campus.  

Room selection is in real time; the spaces available to you are unpredictable, as it will depend on the room selection of other residents choosing a room before you select. Buildings will reach capacity and selection for roommate pairs will become limited. Jayhawks can build community in any of our buildings all while being successful and enjoying their experience. We encourage you to have an open mind and do your research ahead of time for all buildings. Many students come to appreciate their building, community, and new opportunities after they have settled in.

Availability:

Space remains available for female students selecting individually or in a roommate pair in: GSP, Hashinger, Naismith, and Stouffer Place (limited). A limited number of single spaces in Naismith remain available.

Corbin, Downs, Ellsworth, Lewis, Oswald, Self, and Templin halls are at capacity.

Changing Space:

Once a student has selected a space, they are able to move to a different space or “change space.” Each student must move themselves in the “change space” function, students are not able to pull-in a roommate to the different space. A student can select the “change space” button in their housing portal, this will allow a student to see available options without giving up their current selected space. When a student identifies a space they would like to change to, they need to select the space then click the “submit” button to finalize the change. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the student’s KU e-mail address and the assignment information will be updated in the housing portal.
